There is one certainty in my life, well actually two if you are counting, but firstly, Christmas is my favorite time of year and secondly, I am in love with way too many dinnerware patterns! Mix those together and I seriously need a storage unit just for my china, crystal, silver and all the matching goodies!

But as my Grandmother used to say, "Now Holley, a Southern lady can never have too many dishes or too many pearls." Such a lovely lady she was and a true Southern Belle! In fact, I'm sure that this strange obsession that I have was inherited directly from her. And if that is the case, I'll take it and wear it with pride.

There are many different styles and types represented here, from ultra formal to whimsical, very affordable to expensive and vintage to brand new, but I love them all and I hope you will too. Enjoy!

Bing & Grohdahl "Bringing Home the Tree" Appetizer Plate

Bing & Grondahl "Christmas Night" Appetizer Plate

Though no longer made and highly collectible, these Bing & Grondahl yearly Christmas plates have been made every year for over 100 years. Most people wouldn't naturally gravitate to cobalt blue and white when decorating a table top for Christmas, however, these plates, when paired with pewter, silver or platinum and white in your linens and centerpieces will be the talk of the town. Stunningly beautiful and full of history, these are truly special, magical pieces.

This is a lovely and whimsical pattern from Casafina - Fine European Home & Table Decor. Made of Casa Stone, it is both dishwasher and microwave safe. There are several more pieces that match this set, including dessert plates, mugs, serving pieces and more. Deer Friends accent a Woodland Christmas or Rustic Elegance table theme perfectly.

Although this particular pattern from Hermes is not a "Christmas" pattern, it makes a stunning tablescape for the Holidays. The colors are bright and vibrant and the red grounded rim on the dinner plate works wonderfully for a Christmas setting. The golds and blues can be accented with your glassware and linens for a gorgeous holiday table. Perfect for the Equestrienne entertainer!

International China Country Christmas Dinner Plate

This pattern was discontinued in 1992, but can still be found on various websites and in antique stores. Country Christmas is perfect for a down home holiday celebration featuring a menagerie around a snowy Christmas tree. This set looks perfect with gingham checks and Mason jars or can be dressed up with Ruby glass or vintage depression glass pieces. The combinations are endless!

Johnson Brothers Merry Christmas Dinner Plate

The Merry Christmas pattern is the quintessential Christmas dinnerware set that will give your table a refined and traditional look. It has beautiful dark greens with touches of red, blue and gold and looks stunning atop a gold or tartan plaid charger plate. The original pattern was discontinued in 1995, but was manufactured again for a short time in 2004. You can still find these pieces available on the internet or in antique stores. There is a similar pattern, Friendly Village, which can be purchased at many big box stores, but they are not specifically Christmas sets. They are a good option if you can't get your hands on a full set of Merry Christmas. The colors and patterns work very well together.

Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles in Pink Christmas Plate

This beautiful pattern was produced for only two years, between 2002 and 2004, but can still be found today. Many of the companion pieces feature green accents as well as the pink ground color. This pattern is very versatile and can be dressed up or made more casual depending on what you pair it with. It is particularly stunning when accented with whites and silver. Pair with silver rimmed white accent plates or a set of vintage monogrammed silver napkin rings and starched white linen napkins and your table will be brilliant!

Country Estate Holiday & Winter Frolic Scalloped Dinner Plate - Christmas Eve

This gorgeous pattern by Juliska is the perfect casual layering set for your holiday table. Scenes depict winter life on a country estate with trees, ice skating, birds and sleigh rides, all in a gorgeous winter red. I absolutely love these pieces because they are made to work with the original Lenox Solitaire, first produced in 1965 and still produced today (see dinner plate above). The colors are elegant, classic and stunningly beautiful. This pattern makes a regal tablescape when paired with your platinum rimmed crystal and finest silver. These can be handed down from generation to generation, they are that versatile and beautiful!

Lenox Winter Greetings is a holiday classic! It is produced on an ivory bone china ground and trimmed in 24 karat gold. The artwork is by renowned nature artist Catherine McClung and the dinner plate features a nuthatch, chickadee and cardinal resting atop a garland of pine boughs and holly entwined with a beautiful red ribbon.
